Childhood holds special importance in human development and, depending on how we experience it, we become adults accordingly. I address certain pathologies or issues associated with these ages, so this area is aimed at providing children and adolescents with a space for themselves, where they feel special and free in expressing their emotions, as the first phase of intervention.
The lack of emotional expression and the inability to often understand what is happening around them cause children to suffer in silence, leading to emotional and academic problems.
Enhancing emotional expression in children and adolescents, helping them understand themselves, comprehend the reasons for their distress and the effects these have inside and outside of them, enables them to gain greater confidence, strengthening their self-esteem, boosting their motivation for change, facing fears, frustrations, and enhancing their personal and social skills.
The process begins with a case assessment, involving the minor, parents or legal guardians, other close family members, etc., and, if deemed necessary, other professionals such as teachers, doctors, etc…
After a evaluation, the appropriate psychological or psychopedagogical intervention is estimated. I maintain contact with their closest environment, safeguarding the minor’s privacy and confidentiality, as any changes that occur in them must have the same direction in different contexts. Therefore, family counseling, is always necessary when working with minors.
